He goes to Mags to get these double-checked. He does his own work, but his past projects were all normal items. Adding the extra oomph to make these truly fit for the Secret Market is something he didn't have the confidence to do until last year.
Of course, he was full of confidence until one of his rings needed cut off of a wearer who couldn't stop bursting into (remarkably good) spontaneous song. Still confident in his work, Mags just irons out any unintended side effects.
